Parent Messenger 4.22.2025: BHS Spring Core Academic Level Change Request 2025-2026
This week there is one final window for students to make any Core Academic Level Change Requests. To view your Course Requests you will need to:
- Log into PowerSchool
- Select Course Requests from the Navigation menu to view your requests (screenshots below)
This is not your schedule, just the selections that you made. Please read through the information shared and look over the courses you selected for next year.
- If you want to request a change in rigor level (AP/Honors/Dual Credit) for your Math, Science, English or Social Studies classes please complete this Spring Academic Change Request Form. An administrator and/or counselor will review your requested changes and will reach out to you only if a change cannot be made.
- We are not accepting requests to change electives.
- If everything is accurate, no additional action is needed.
All requests must be made by 7:30 AM on Monday April 28th. Final schedules will be available in August.

Parent Messenger 1.14.2025: BHS Course Selection Verification for the 2025-2026 School Year
In November and December, BHS staff met with your student for the Placement – Planning – Selection phase of the course selection process and helped them to:
- Review their academic placements
- Consider potential 4-year plans
- Select elective options
At that time your student made selections for the 2025-2026 school year and those have been entered into the PowerSchool system.
It is now time for the Verification & Confirmation phase of the course selection process. To view your student’s Course Requests you will need to:
- Log into PowerSchool
- Select your BHS student
- Select Course Requests from the Navigation menu to view their requests
This is not their schedule, just the selections they made. Please read through the information and look over the courses they selected for next year:
- Are the academic courses at the appropriate rigor level (AP/Honors/Dual Credit)?
- Are any sequential courses in the correct order (if applicable)?
- Example – Spanish I (Sem 1) and Spanish II (Sem 2)
- Are their elective choices correct (primary & alternates)?
If everything is accurate, no additional action is needed.
If you need to request a change for any reason, you can do so by filling out the Verification Change Request Form. An administrator and/or counselor will review your requested changes and will reach out only if a change cannot be made.
All requests must be made by 8:00 AM on January 21st. Final schedules will be available in August.

Parent Messenger 11.4.2024: BHS Course Selection for the 2025-2026 School Year
We’re excited to guide you through a revised process of selecting courses and planning for a rigorous and rewarding academic year. This guide serves as the first step in the new course request process for the 2025-2026 school year. More information will be communicated via email over the next few weeks.
A few highlights to be aware of:
- Course selection is shifting away from the Parent Portal on PowerSchool.
- Students will receive a personalized Course Selection Form with their Core Course placements or recommendations from their counselors. This will also be communicated via email to students and guardians in the next few weeks.
- Adjustments to Core Placements will be submitted using a QR Code located on the student’s Course Selection Form or using this link.
- Elective selections will be written on their Course Selection Form and these will be entered directly by the BHS team. Any changes to elective choices can be communicated with the counselor directly.
- January 21, 2025 is the final deadline for any Core or Elective change requests.
Next Steps:
- In the next few weeks, students and guardians will receive an email outlining core course placements based on standardized test scores, grades, and previous courses taken.
- Throughout November and December, counselors will be presenting to students during class and provide them the chance to select electives and request core changes. All selections will be complete by December 20, 2024.
- Be sure to discuss with your student and review our course registration page on our website for additional information.
- Be sure to discuss with your student their four year plan, elective options and Core Course options.
- Students with more formalized support plans will collaborate with their counselor to refine and select their courses.
